Welcome to MADYAN STOCKS AND BLANKS
Madyan Swat Pakistan. Madyan is a tourist
resort on the Swat River. At 1,321 meters (4,335 feet) above
sea level. It is the most beautiful town in the swat valley.
It is quite a cold area in the winter but very nice in summer.
It is a larger town and has many hotels in all price ranges
and some good tourist shopping. Antique and modern shawls,
traditional embroidery, tribal jewellery, carved wood and
antique or reproduced coins are sold along the main street.
This is the last Swati village, offering interesting two-and
three-day walks up to the mountain villages. North of Madyan
is Swat Kohistan. The central mosque at Madyan has carved
wooden pillars with elegant scroll capitals, and its
mud-plastered west wall is covered with relief designs in
floral motifs. Both bespeak the Swati's love of decoration.
That is the reason that old furniture of the Swat culture is
famous world wide.

BLANKS:
Madyan Swat is famous for its black walnut round the world.
Since early 80s the people of Swat has taken keen interest in
gun stocks and blanks.The cold dry season
of the places from where the wood is extracted is perfect for
walnut to dry over nights. There is somewhat humidity in the
air ‘also' which decors the blank. The rich colour and
swirling grain makes walnut a popular wood for gunstocks.The
blank is in fact the expensive root of the walnut. The
wood we use for the blanks is almost 150 years old-kept under
the pressure of the tree inside the soil. The blanks
are dried in air for sale which measures about 9% to 12%
of moist on moisture meter.
